I too was on this flight on Wednesday the 17th. The fact that the flight was delayed did not help matters in crowding. I have never seen such a small gate area for a jumbo jet. UA should really consider using a different gate.
There are limited gates in T1 can handle 777/747, only C10/C16/C18/C20/C29/B16/B17.
Don't forget in the morning NH always use C10 as well for its daily 77W to NRT, do they have a problem ? No, maybe the Japanese are just conducting better in public than Americans.
