My $.02, I did a 40 day trip to the US & AU/NZ and only brought my iPad. No regrets. Mind you I didn't have any real work to do. It was fine for hotel/flight reservations and usual browsing FT, figuring out places to visit etc. Each country I visited I dropped it and grabbed a sim for the iPad and had internet everywhere. Using Google maps on the iPad is great, I don't mind walking around with an iPad. Loved the battery life, great for using on a bus/plane.
