I know that it has been there since at least 2001, as I think it was the same week Goodwin said "UA shall surely perish", I was at C8, when the widebody to LHR there (I think a 777) had Jimmie G on it, and the plane was struck by lightening. I found it was a sign from above, but the plane and everyone on it was fine, as planes can take a lightening hit (of course, it did go out of service for an inspection,) but the mechanic (We had gate mechanics doing receipt and dispatch back then) in the tug was out of service for months recovering as the tug acted as the ground to complete the circuit.
And F2 is nothing compared to F1 (which is slightly better now that it is just 3 instead of 4 parking places for planes.) or F-12.
As usual, fastair you rock. One of the best sources of info on UA
