And now that AGR is in house, I'd expect that they'll be clamping down on the agents even more to ensure that they do follow the rules.
Actually, the rule is that you have used the AGR CC to buy $200 of Amtrak travel--it could be travel for you, or it could be travel for family members or others.
Agents look for the Chase--Amtrak Travel notation on account postings to verify eligibility.
The major issue with this "trick" is that you a) need to wait until the Chase statement closes/points post to AGR and b) refunding the ticket will reverse the earnings (as it should), so that the trick may not work in perpetuity for a member.
