I called AA, acted as though I should have already had been signed up for the challenge (was armed with that above link in front of me so I knew what I was talking about), and received Gold status within 5 minutes.
Furthermore, a friend who I did the travelling with took exactly the same flights, and he called the following day and was able to get Gold status for himself.
So....I guess at least for the Gold challenge, in some cases you can convince them to count flights that have already posted. A bit sneaky, but I think acting like you already called to sign up is probably the key. Good luck!</font>
If what you're saying is that you outright lied to them and told them that you had, in fact, called in and signed up-- I guess that could work too-- I have no doubt of it. But my answer is still the answer for those who choose not to do that.
