The upward movement is quick. That is what I meant when I said abrupt. The left hand is on the inside of the right thigh and the palm is toward the fares leg. With that being said as long as the hand is kept in contact with the thigh an upward motion is not likely to cause discomfort to the scrotal region. The fact that the fare does not flinch or jump bares this out.
