Using a 12" razor blade in anger would be like trying to use a 10' sledgehammer. Doable, yet... huh?

Yea, it was probably for a cutting device, such as paper, or some other wide/thin material (cloth, plastic, etc). It was probably a replacement part, watching him take it out of what appeared to be a shipping or packing cardboard.
