Those of us from San Francisco grit our teeth anytime we hear that word...along with San Fran. I hear the "San Fran" reference from numerous FA's who must think it's cute not realizing it's an insult to locals.
The majority of people from San Francisco say San Francisco when speaking about San Francisco anything else is considered very tacky. A bit like pharting in an elevator.
