You can also fly on BA to Zurich or Basel , rent a car and then have a spectacular drive till Lugano and then along the Lugano lake (very nice drive, narrow road) cross into Italy directly to Menaggio , bypassing Como. It's a 3-4 hours drive but very spectacular through the Alps and various lakes .
