So I finally get my portable DVD Player (from my Christmas wish list) and Im flying JFK-LAX on the 9th then back on the 18th then back on the 25th then back on the 30th.

I booked seats for all the flights with power outlets.(Im assuming if I get the upgrade , which I requested as well) that all seats have the power supply.

What are some things I should know about this from people with experience.

1.) Is it the same as a car lighter ?
2.) If the DVD Player came with a cigarete adapter will this work ?

Any adice is appreciated.
