The $700 fare seems a thing of the past - the last time there was a significant sale it was in the $750 range. The norm seems morelike around a grand these days.
United is dropping their EZE flights - that might account for it, too.
If money is more important than miles or status (heresy, I know) there are plenty of discounters who can sell you a r/t for $500-600 which usually includes some hotel nights as well. Similarly, Aerolineas Argentinos flies JFK-EZE and MIA-EZE, usually for less. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but Aero Arg is operated by Iberia - not that it helps with miles, etc.</font>
Well, if $700 is the case then I guess I should book it now. Money is often more important than miles to me, but not in this case (to a degree). I was looking at getting the cost below $600 but doing this flight on AA would put me over a couple of important milestones - a mileage balance of over 40K (I'm at 31.7K, this plus a Southern Winds internal r/t would get me to around 44K) and Gold, so going AA is first choice.
I do know about Carbone Travel, and was going to give them a call before booking to see what they can do.
