Stu is correct. In some ways, it is smarter for AC because it encourages more flying at the higher levels and rewards their top fliers proportionately more.

Not only do you get the 10k at every 10k bonuses from 50k up but you get additional gifts (free N. American ticket at 60k, 30k miles at 100k, etc etc.)
