Optimizing a MR by finding a destination with low taxes

I'm trying to find somewhere to go in January to make use of my 2 expiring red certs and a discount code.

While looking at different options today, I noticed that fares to Hawaii are relatively high, but the taxes are more reasonable (~$150). This got me to thinking that this would be a good destination to use a discount code, since the discount applies to the base fare but not the taxes. On the other hand, Europe has some cheap destinations (for example EWR-MAD), but the taxes are more than double the base fare, so no longer attractive and not a good place to use a discount code.

Ideally, I would like to go somewhere in Asia to make the best use of my red certs. Are there any destinations where the taxes/fuel surcharges are lower than others?

TIA
