No successful water landings in history?

I heard on an NPR report a few years ago that there has never been a "successful" water landing of a commercial airliner (leading to the nice floating-plane, slides-cum-liferat situation depicted in the safety briefing card in your seatback pocket). Is this true? And if so, why does it seem to make so many people uncomfortable when I relate this fact during the pretakeoff safety briefing?
