Do Airlines Upgrade Politicians Automatically?

My district is sending a rookie congressman to DC.....he's a church camp director, and may never have been to DC before, even on a class trip. He promises to come home every weekend to the district, so will be flying a lot. For the DC-area to OKC route, I was going to recommend the Southwest flights OKC-BWI since they are non-stops.....and in my experience, it's easier to get from Capitol to BWI than Dulles for the UA nonstop.

But.......of course, no upgrades on SW......but if he is a rookie traveler wih no status, do airlines routinely upgrade politicians? If he takes the traditional DCA-MEM-OKC route, does a House member equal Delta Gold or Platinum.....do Senators clear upgrades over House members?
