I had a nice set of Sony earbuds that lasted about a year before failing. I was on a trip and bought another pair of cheap Sony's for about 9GBP. They sounded great, but quickly fell apart. So now I'm looking for quality, but still just earbuds.

I don't suppose there exists a shop where you can just try out high end earphones til you find what you like? Does anyone know if such a place exists in LA?
In Tokyo that would be the Apple Store. They have several types available to try. I'd drop a dime and see if that exists in La-La land too. Try the Shure 535's just for fun though. My personal favorite.
