Almost denied boarding, even though I had a confirmed seat...
This YEG-YYC-YEG trip has been full of surprises. Actually my whole Air Canada experience the past two days has me a bit riled up (I'm never a Hater/Complainer of AC as I generally have very good experiences).
The latest: I was put on standby (please see other thread for details) for a earlier flight, but confirmed for a later flight.
When the confirmed flight started boarding (45 minutes late nonethless) and I presented my BP to the gate agent, she panicked when the computer told her I didn't have a seat assigned. I was like ...? I told her I was confirmed for that flight, but put onstandby for a earlier flight that I didn't get called for.
She then stated "I hope there is a seat for you..." My eyes popped out and I was thinking "There better be seat, I was confirmed and if there isn't, you're probably gonna next see me on you tube wigging out".
She found and assigned a seat to me and away I went.
Like What the hell?? I doubt one gets bumped from a confirmed flight when they are put on standby for a earlier flight? And even so, I should have popped back onto my original flight when I didn't get a seat on the earlier standby.
I guess the fact I ALMOST lost a confirmed seat has me pretty ticked off. I really can't imagine what I would have said/done if I got denied boarding because of some human/computer error. Add a long day, crappy weather and departure delays and I probably would have lost it.
