interesting. Just a couple of months ago at MIA a skycap refused to check my 51 pound bag without extra charges. I called a supervisor over who agreed it couldnt be checked for free. Why do you doubt the agent would have not charged you if it was over 50 pounds?
The limit is 50 pounds, not 51. People have been charged for this. That is, people too stubborn or stupid to remove 1 pound from the bag.
