1A is my favorite. The privacy and legroom are great. If you are lucky the FA will make smalltalk (or unlucky, depending on your perspective) and offer you an extra drink if you are PLT/EXP.

The downside as mentioned is that the nearest overhead is a few rows up, so you have to swim upstream. I take ERJs 2-3x / month SAN-LAX and not once has an FA offered to stow my bag in the closet.
