I tend to agree Andy, many of these flights seem to have quite a few spare seats. I know one staffer who wanted to go from PER-HKG and couldn't even though there were over 100 empty seats and no weight restrictions due to cargo etc.
Whilst commercial passengers need to be looked after first of course, I don't think a blanket ban on staff travel is neccessary when there are still quite a few opportunities for staff to travel.
