Go JFK-LAX-HNL on the outbound. That way you can sit in first class on a 767 widebody on both segments. But on the return, if you intend to try to sleep, you should consider HNL-DFW-JFK even if it means sacrificing the perks of the transcon 767 service. Why? The five hour HNL-LAX segment will cause sleep deprivation and a rude early morning awakening at LAX, especially if you opt for dinner and a movie. The eight hour journey to DFW, on the other hand, will be much less taxing on your body, even if you're on an MD-80 in first class the rest of the way.
