# The American Airlines offer for a platinum personal and/or business Mastercard, 10,000 miles for first purchase had been extended until June 30, 2004. The personal card used to be free for 6 months, then $85/year, and the business card used to be free for 1 year, then $75/year. But the free part is no longer on line. I would call them at one of the numbers below to see if it still can be had for free. A reader told me that on February 13, 2004, you could get the free offer plus a $25 certificate towards an American Airlines flight by calling (866) 80-MILES, EXT 11. Please let me know about your attempts to get this offer. Thanks. Note that the annual fees on this offer are higher than those mentioned in the previous paragraph. Weird.
