You book what you want as long as it is available. End of story.
Personally I have NEVER had an agent tried to steer me away from partner flights. I give agents the flights I want and know there are availabilities, and they book the flights accordingly.
Same here...I book a few partner awards a year and have never been discouraged by an EXP AAgent to switch to AA flights. They've always been very helpful in helping me track down inventory and flight options. ^
