The first time I flew in J was just after the new menus came in and it was pretty fantastic. Since then I have to say the quality seems to have gone down some. Maybe I was just in awe with the whole new experience

But even at its best it was still airline food. I just don't think it's really possible to cook a proper dinner in a plane galley that's better than just passable. And to cook 20-some odd dinners all in a short time is even harder.

Some of the items fare worse than others though. I agree the cold bread is a turn-off. The after-dinner cheese is particularly poor -- and I'm a pretty big cheese fan and would love a nice cheese plate but these selections run from tasteless to foul tasting.

Personally I like the salmon plate, the lamb is pretty good (though a bit fatty), and the beef is ok. I wish there were some lighter, healthier options that were as good. I haven't been impressed with any of the others.

On domestic J they have the fresh baked cookies which for my money is the best thing on the entire menu. I can't understand why they don't have them in intl J.

I find the consistent error throughout the menu is serving items at the wrong temperature. The bread should be warm, not cold; the cheese should be room temperature, not cold; the desert should be heated more, it's supposed to be melting but it's still very solid usually; etc. I guess that's part of why I love the cookies -- they're served straight from the oven still perfectly warm
