Another twist on this...

I've just hit Gold for the first time
I'm staying at a FS Marriott on the night of Thanksgiving (so checking out on Friday)
I'm staying using the associate rate (but I am not the Marriott employee)
I know the associate rate does not earn points nor elite nights, but my understanding is that I should get Gold benefits regardless of rate type (according to a MR rep)

Should I be expecting breakfast on Friday?

It's worth noting that I seldom ever complain about anything while staying on the associate rate (don't want to mess things up for the associate) so I certainly wouldn't be banging down a manager's door for $100 regardless of the outcome.
