Can someone explain me this:

I am currently a United 2P flyer and will end the year as a 1P. Next year, I will most likely end the year as a 1P+. However, if I throw an extra India trip next year on my own dime - I will probably make 1K. Can someone explain why I am better off on AA or Delta with a similar status than on UACO?
