I'm certain that that average traveler is not as sophisticated or informed about hotel promotions as the average FTer. That said the segment of the travel market dedicated to stretching their travel budgets must be growing given the current economic realities. In such a climate, I wonder how long rich rewards promotions such as FFN/BWB can remain under the radar of the average traveler.
I certainly wasn't aware of or paying attention to hotel promos for most of my travel life. For years I was content when I got a free United miles out of my occasional Hilton stay. Even during my first couple of years on FT I was primarily focussed on airline miles.
That said, the popularity of sites like FatWallet seems to created a lit more awareness of blockbuster promos among the general Internet population.
