Thank You to everyone for their good advice.
Indeed I booked two inter-asia business class tickets on TG: lowest cost total was ~$1100 USD- so 60K points plus $75.60CAD in fees was an excellent value for me in this situation.
Flyertalk is great- and especially the Air Canada gang here- I always feel like I am (back) in Canada when I read here!
