I was in a similar situation (typically fly discounted economy) so the 25% earnings on SK was really making it hard to keep *G.
OZ is much easier to earn *G, because you get full points on most economy booking codes on most carriers, where SK gives only 25%.
For retro-registration, I mail my boarding passes to their office in Los Angeles and it takes about a week to credit.

What I did is compare the *A carriers I typically expect to fly (currently in my case, UA and US as I'm in the US most of the time these days) and looked at the lower-level booking code earnings versus the same thing if I were to earn in EB. OZ came out ahead.
As it stands so far, with one trip to Asia and half a trip to Europe and I've reached *S already on OZ (20k points needed). I wouldn't be close to that on with EB due to the 25% earnings issue.
