First of all, I know there are tools outside of AA.com that I can use.

When I enter a search criteria, say r/t from ABC to DEF I specify that I would like to fly in the evening. It seems that I have two choices, search by schedule where I have to click on every friggin' option to get fares, or use the search by fare and have it provide me with all of the cheap 6am flights.

Is there something that I am missing here, as in "search by lowest fare, while keeping close to time preferences?"

I am moving over to AA from CO and CO does have such a function on their website, they call is "combined" search, that is time and fare.
