Most of the time the duvet and pillow are wrapped in plastic. I just leave it in the plastic on the floor until I'm ready to use it. If not wrapped in plastic, I would question the cleaniness of the duvet and pillow and in that case leaving it on the floor probably won't do to much to change the dirt factor.
