BTW - even when going through WTMD I take my watch off. The only metal items on me are my glasses and my wedding ring - both of which are medically necessary.
I've long been in the habit of taking mine off enroute to the AP & putting in my carryon, so it wasn't an issue for me.
However, the little old lady in front of me, who had already sent her stuff down the belt, was admonished for still having hers on whe she presented for selection
