My reasoning for this is that not only would it be far less traumatic for your son on this trip, but it will also not put any ideas in his head that it's OK for 'authorities to search me'. He doesn't need his defenses down if some perp tells him that he's a security officer and needs to give him a pat-down 'just like they do every-time you go through the airport.' Kids do not need any kind of fondling to become normalized.
