But isn't there also a rule that the miles have some value? For example, winning a million miles, don't you have to pay a tax, and they're valued at so many cents each? And if so, does a company have the right to "expire" those things of value, like gift cards and such, without compensation? Otherwise aren't miles like coupons, little value, and therefore completely transferable?
