Well said Forbes!
I couldn't agree more. Paying 8.3B$ for security theatre is criminal. No, scratch that, the way they treat passengers is criminal. Either way, it's time to cut the bureaucratic tree off at the roots before those roots can truly crack the foundation of this union. If the constitution still means anything the TSA has to go.
Replace it with genuine professional profilers plus a low-key bag x-ray with random chemical swabbing. Don't even bother with metal detectors. It is well established that small arms fire won't bring down a plain and when members of the general public are armed and prepared to fight to the death an aircraft makes a far worse target than your average shopping mall.
The money, time and talent are ultimately better spent gathering intelligence in the field and looking into the tiny fraction of travelers who happen to have suspicious patterns of travel or association. It lacks the publicly comforting in-your-faceness of the TSA but history has shown it works a lot better.
If there's one thing we can agree to, it's disbanding the TSA.
