Of course the MFU is only available to the BA/AA/IB flights but you can still include the other flight on the same ticket. i have recently booked anf flown this sort of journey using LA and SA flights. I had to make booking by the telephone but it was not hard - but 3 days to get a quote on the LA booking. It is assuredley possible.
