AA has one of the better programs in terms of being able to redeem miles for travel. Unfortunately, that still does not always mean that you don't have to be flexible. Have you tried searching for award tickets on aa.com? Also, if you try calling aa, many of their agents are very helpful in terms of finding available flights for award travel.
