Based on the comments I have heard on RJs, people do care. Just not enough to learn how to/remember to choose planes they like when they buy tickets. The complainers often just found out they were on a small plane as they walk aboard.
Absolutely. I remember overhearing in the jetway at SLC while waiting for valet bags to come up from the CR9 some passenger exclaiming on their mobile phone "Wow that was the smallest airplane I have ever been on."
Uh, dude, maybe in comparison to a 747 a CR9 is "small" but if that's the
smallest airplane you've ever been on then you clearly don't get out much.
But to the point of the poster above, while passengers do care about RJs, even big ones like the CR9, they clearly do not care enough to make a decision to avoid them. Even for those infrequent/semi-frequent travelers that know what an RJ is, hardly any of them would choose to pay more to fly on something bigger.
