You need more than 30K miles to upgrade to first class on that plane. The plane has three classes of service so 30K miles gets you business class. It is not worth spending the extra o get to first because you can sometimes route a bigger trip through an aa partner and take advantage of first class in the 777. It is the best way to fly!
