Lightning strike on BA 268

Well that was fun - NOT. I'm sure many of you have been on a plane that has struck by lightning but today BA 268 from LAX - LHR was my first.

3000 feet from landing I see this white flash and then a huge boom which sounded like an explosion. Scared the sht out of me as my first thought was an engine failure. First officer immediately came on and explained what it was although in hindsight I was suprised he made the announcement when he was supposed to be flying the aircraft (he said this on his pre landing announcement). Captain came on after landing and explained in more detail what happened but it did scare a lot of people on the flight including myself.

Funny for a split second when I though we may have had a really serious problem I was a lot more calm than I thought but I wouldn't want to go through that again.
