Ha...ha...ha. You think new complaints against Delta or any other airline. People have complained about availability every since there have been frequent flier programs. And I am sure it has been challenged in court (or threatened) more than a few times. Hell the only thing Delta has to show to win the case is this thread.

I think you GREATLY underestimate the general public willingness to pay the higher rates. I personally know someone that redeemed a 50,000 mile ticket SLC-LAS where the fare would have been less than $150.

Why does this surprise you? Just because they haven't sold anything yet doesn't mean they won't. Have you priced that stuff lately? 7-10 thousand dollars....and I assume that they sell more than a few of those. Does the order really matter if they end up with fewer seats than the demand? How about Delta just tell you the "low" mileage and inform you that if they start selling too many of the seats then you will have to make up the difference at a later point?
