As I stopped flying AY some time ago so I don't know if they still do it but in the past there often was an agent waiting for Plats/Emeralds (at least for those in J) and escorted you/us through immigration. To me BKK immigration is not that big of an issue anyway but it was a nice touch...would be much more useful at some other locations around the world.
