Interesting question. I'm sure we could all give examples of flights we've taken that were very empty. I would assume that AA doesn't have an official load req'd for a flight to take off. I imagine it's at the discretion of the AA supervisor. Last weekend I was on a LGB-JFK flight. It was a 757, and only had 18 people on it. Needless to say, the service was excellent
