And despite what everyone says about finding another job, I can imagine there are some people who are worried about feeding their children, and can't quit their job immediately over an admittedly incremental change in their job description. You can make references to the Nuremberg trials, but these agents aren't exactly herding people into gas chambers.
The Nuremberg analogy is tempting but too facile -- most TSOs do not bear comparison to Nazis. Based solely on my subjective observations, I hypothesize TSOs fall into four main groups:
1. Idealistic people, conscious of the abusive / coercive aspect of recent events, and ambivalent or even agonized about it. Perhaps
20% of the TSO base.
2. Idealistic people who honestly believe abusive / coercive screenings are good medicine for Americans and America. Probably
30% of the TSO base.
2. Intrinsically abusive personalities who welcome recent events as personal opportunities. My guess is they constitute
20% of the TSO base, but generate 80% of the complaints.
4. Drones with no views or goals who will do anything for a paycheck. Idiots. Probably
30% of the TSO base.
