Passport control can take a long time. I've only been three or four times; once took something like half an hour (made worse by the border control agent at the front of our queue suddenly deciding to take a break, leaving our queue having to merge into the adjacent one, which rapidly became more of a scrum). As anywhere, it seems to depend on what else has been arriving at the same time.

I wouldn't risk it if I were you; I'd either stay 24 hours, or come back a different way e.g. via Paris on a flight that leaves 2-3 hours after yours lands.
