A couple weeks ago I flew a transcon on which the FA for my side of the J cabin made a point of asking each passenger what s/he preferred to be called. Without exception (at least none that I could hear) everyone gave their first names. The FA then used our names every single time she came down the aisle, even if she was only refilling water glasses. While I certainly applaud her enthusiasm and cheerful attitude, by the end of that flight I felt like I never wanted to hear my name spoken again...
