No offense to the OP, but why, if you never stay at SPG would you think to get "elite status by this weekend. . .WITH free breakfast?"

There are plenty of promos where you can purchase a room rate with vouchers for breakfast. On the other hand, you can buy breakfast in cities as well for - oh about $12 a person or less. Why would somebody think that they can get elite status for nothing? I don't get that.
