Like I said, the old 40D has had new Shutter assembly, so I've got no problems hanging onto it as a "day" camera.
If I'm doing Commercial Studio work, the 20D isn't suitable due to the small LCD (hence why I like the 40D/50D - it's good showing off images to customers). Even doing Private Studio work a larger its better for review purposes before heading back to the MacBook Pro.
I'm slowly heading towards a 2nd 40D/50D as a primary camera - as I agree with you that the latest and greatest isn't what I need in this case.
I get this feeling it's time to head to LCE in Leamington this weekend...
