What type of aircraft do they use and how is their service? I'd like to make a trip in a couple of years to Russia and would like to stick with the One World Alliance. Would appreciate hearing anything or everything about this newbie airline. Thanks!
Hi
I was a regular flyer on S7 for a couple of years until August. I flew monthly from Domodedovo, Moscow to Novy Urengoy in Western Siberia and back. S7 was the only airline that my company would approve for that route.
In the early days, we flew on Tupelov Tu 154s but they were phased out and for the last year or more it was always Airbus A320s.
They always appeared to be clean and in good condition. As far as I know, they have a good safety record - the stats are available online. I flew business class and the service was always excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always at least one cabin crew would speak English. S7 have a basic but comfortable lounge in Domodedovo and provide access to the general business lounges in the regional airports.
You couldn't describe S7 as luxurious but they are pleasant and comfortable and I would rate them higher than Aeroflot and wouldn't have any concerns about flying them. (Mind you I have only ever flown on one route).
