Every carrier does this a little differently. CO's approach is to keep fares high until usually about 2-3 months before the flight departs. Other carriers start out with lower fares.

If you really want to fly CO at a cheaper fare, you will have to wait, most likely till the spring of 2011, before the fare drops.
